How to read this comparison

The Bitcoin line shows how much bitcoin would equal the dollar benchmark value of one troy ounce of gold at each monthly observation. A falling Bitcoin line means fewer bitcoin are needed to match the value of that ounce.

For each calendar month, the latest available source observation is retained. The Bitcoin value is calculated as the nominal value of one troy ounce of gold divided by the BTC/USD close. When a source has not published a new observation, the chart carries its last available value forward until an update arrives.
